Welcome to St. Luke’s!

If you are a visitor, we hope you will find our website to be a reflection of this wonderful parish, and that through this site you will be drawn more deeply into life in Christ, through our parish community.

If you are a parishioner, we hope that you will find the information that you need, in order to become more fully engaged in the life of our family of faith.

St. Luke the Evangelist is a Roman Catholic parish in the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston. As a Catholic community of faith, we know that the Mass is central to our lives. Through the Eucharist, we celebrate Christ’s saving love for us and for all. We know that in the Mass, Christ is truly present through the words of Sacred Scripture, through the presence of the priest, through one another as the Body of Christ, and in a special way in the bread and wine which become the Body and Blood of Christ our Lord. Our parish recognizes that such amazing love calls for great response, and so we have committed ourselves to be good stewards of all God’s many blessings. We offer ourselves in service within this parish and in our city and world; St. Luke’s Parish is a community of disciples and stewards who are on a lifelong journey of faith together.

St. Luke’s is a parish in which you can truly belong! Whether you are just beginning to explore Catholicism or have been Catholic all of your life; whether you have stayed on the fringes of parish life in the past or are already involved in ministry; St. Luke’s is a parish that values you. As a community, we care for one another, knowing that through our ministry we perceive Christ’s presence among us. With the support of one another as Church, we serve those most in need in the Morgantown area and the entire world, through direct service, collections of food, clothing, and gifts, and through monetary contributions, as we help to contribute to the reign of God in our world.

St. Luke’s parishioners are growing as disciples through lifelong faith formation. Our parish is a place in which you are offered many opportunities to learn and to grow, through retreats, Bible studies, Men’s and Women’s Groups, children’s faith formation from pre-school through Confirmation. We know that being together in fellowship helps us to grow strong as a community, and we support each other throughout our lives and stages of faith, in joy and in sorrow.

It is very evident that everything we possess is a gift from God. When we are greeted by a new day and find companionship through the various relationships we forge in life, we know that it has been made possible by the Giver of the Gift. The church we believe in and the world in which we exist is a tremendous treasure, freely given by our heavenly Father. As you thumb your way through the parish website, please contemplate where your place may be within our community life. There are so many ways in which we can give back to God. We can give of our time and talents, so that God may be glorified through us. We can give of our treasure so that we may be able to create and maintain ministries of outreach, education and concern. It is our hope and prayer that you will discern where you can make a difference in the Church and in the world.
