FrCarlosMelocotonI was born 42 years ago in Manila, Philippines. Eldest of five, a brother and three younger sisters all lives in the Philippines with my Mom. I spent most of my early education with the Religious of the Assumption sisters and then went to take Accounting in College. After working for six years as an accountant, I decided to join the Augustinian of the Assumption (Assumptionist), male counterpart of the sisters who help form my love for God.

Jubilee year of 2000, I agreed to join the Assumptionist. They do not have formation house in the Philippines so I have to live with the brothers in Worcester, MA. I was accepted at Assumption College in Worcester for a two-years Pre-Theology program. I finished my novitiate year with the community and took temporary vows while doing my MDiv in Theology at St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, MA.

In 2007, Fr. Arthur Bufogle facilitated my transfer to the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston. I was accepted in September and started my pastoral year at St. John’s in Benwood. I was sent back to finish my last year of theology in Massachusetts after finishing my summer assignment at St. Brendan in Elkins and at Camp Tygart in Huttonsville. I was ordained deacon in December of 2008 and then priest in June of 2009.

My first four years as a priest was spent at the Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Charleston. I was a Campus Minister and Chaplain for two years at the University of Charleston St. John Paul II Catholic Campus Ministry. I enjoyed my chaplaincy for the Serra Club, Knights of Columbus, and Charleston Catholic High School for four years in Charleston.

Before coming to Cheat Lake, I was an administrator of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church and school in Oak Hill. Now, new journey ahead and I will be spending it with you. I am looking forward to be with you soon and build up good memories as we continue to proclaim God’s Word in His kingdom here on earth.
